Travel Tips for Singapore Travellers

Visa: Singapore passport holders need an Indian e-Visa, best applied for online 1-2 weeks before travel.
Currency: Packages are priced in SGD for easy budgeting, though on-ground expenses in India are in Indian Rupees. ATMs are available in Darjeeling and Gangtok, but limited in remote areas like Lachung and Lachen.
Flights: Fly Singapore to Kolkata (multiple daily options via major carriers), then a short connecting flight to Bagdogra. Alternatively, an overnight train from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri (NJP) is a scenic option.
Climate contrast: Coming from Singapore’s tropical heat, pack layers — Darjeeling and Gangtok stay cool year-round, while North Sikkim can drop below freezing in winter.
Time difference: India is 2.5 hours behind Singapore, useful for coordinating flight connections.

Navigator India came to my attention while searching the web for a local tour operator for Sikkim and Bhutan. The Tour operator is based in Siliguri and it was a pleasure dealing with Mr. Saikat Das. He is professional, transparent and was always available. He appreciated when we complimented him on the good service at many chosen hotels and by transporters, while also pointing out few shortcomings so that he can improve in future. Overall, my wife and I had a great private tour starting and ending at Bagdogra airport. We visited Darjeeling, Sikkim and Bhutan within a span of two weeks in March 2019. Tsomgo Lake, North Sikkim etc are really stunning. We were sad we could not reach Nathula Pass and Yumthang Valley because of snow fall. Hope to return some day. We are happy that we found Saikat and have no hesitation in recommending him to our friends and acquaintances. Wish Saikat and Navigator India the Very Best.
