Itinerary – Darjeeling Pelling tour
Day 01 : Siliguri/Bagdogra to Darjeeling (83 Km./ 3 hrs)
Welcome to ‘Darjeeling Pelling Tour’. On arrival at Siliguri (NJP) railway station or Bagdogra (IXB) airport meet & greet by Navigator India’s representative. Transfer from Siliguri/Bagdogra to Darjeeling through lush green tea gardens & undulating hills. Check into hotel & rest of the day is t leisure.
Day 02 : Darjeeling sightseeing
Early in the morning (around 4 am), proceed to Tiger Hill to view the breath taking view of Mt.Kanchandzonga (28,200 ft.) & effect of sunlight on the same along with the adjoining peaks like Kabru & Pandim. On the way back visit Ghoom Monastery & Batasia Loop. After breakfast proceed for a half day excursion to Himalayan Mountaineering (HMI) & Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Peace Pagoda, Japanese Temple, Tea garden (outer view), Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center (Sunday closed) etc.
Day 03 : Darjeeling to Pelling (Pemayangtse) (85 km / 3 hrs)
After break fast proceed to Pelling. Check into you hotel. Rest of the day will be at leisure.
Day 04 : Pelling sightseeing
Today you will proceed to full day sight seeing to Rimbi False, Rimbi Rock Garden, Kanchandzonga False, Khecheopalri Lake, Pemayangtse monastery etc.
Day 05 : Pelling to Siliguri/Bagdogra (145 km. / approx 6 hrs)

Darjeeling
Tiger Hill
Tiger Hill is the most popular tourist attraction in the city. At a distance of 11 km from the town it is the highest point with an elevation of approx 7,500 ft. / 2,500 mtr. Tiger Hill is among the two viewpoints in India which offers a panoramic view Eastern Himalaya including Mt. Kanchendzonga, world’s third highest peak & Mt. Everest, world’s highest peak. Kabru, Pandim, Makalu, Kumbhakarna are some of the other important peaks. The local people call it ‘Sleeping Buddha’ as is looks like the god, laying on the Himalayas.
Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI)
Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in a premium mountaineering institute in the world & an important sightseeing point. Tenzing Norgay & Sir Edmund Hillary scaled Mt. Everest on 29th May 1953. In 1954 the institute was established to honour the great mountaineers. Tenzing Norgey was the first field director of the institute. HMI has a museum with various mountaineering artefacts including the first Everest Expedition. It also has boarding facilities for mountaineering students & trainers, along with a restaurant & souvenir shop for the tourist. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (Darjeeling Zoo)
Adjacent to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) there is Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, one of the best high altitude zoos in the world. It is spread across 67.6 acres at an average elevation of 7000 ft. The zoo was inaugurated in 1958 & was dedicated to Padmaja Naidu who was the daughter of Sarojini Naidu & Ex governor on West Bengal. The zoo is a captive breeding centre for Snow Leopard, Red Panda & Himalayan Wolf. There are other important animals are Salamander, Siberian Tiger, Yak ect. The zoo is also reach with fauna. It has over 200 species of plants & trees, shrubs & medicinal plants. There are over 50 varieties of orchids & high altitude trees like Oak, Brich, Maple ect.
Batasia Loop
Just below Ghoom, Batasia Loop is an important tourist spot of Darjeeling. It is a spiral narrow gauge railway track with a tunnel. Batasia Loop is often covered in the morning along with Tiger Hill & Ghoom Monastery. There is a garden & a war memorial to memorise the martyrs. Batasia Loop is also a view point of Mt. Kanchendzonga, surrounding peaks & the town.
Ghoom Monastery
Yiga Choeling Monastery, located near Ghoom is popularly known as Ghoom Mpnastery (old). This is the oldest monastery in Darjeeling district & an important sightseeing point. The Mangolian astrologer Sokpo Sherab Gyatso built the monastery in 1850. He was the heads of the monastery till 1905. There is a 15 feet high statue of Maitreya Buddha (future Buddha). There is another monastery i.e. Samten Choeling Monastery also referred as Ghoom Monastery (new), located just beside the main road in Ghoom.
Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda
Just 2.5 km away from Darjeeling Town in Jalapahara there is a Temple built in Japanese style. It is a two storied building with a large prayer hall. The temple belongs to ‘Nipponzan Myohoji’ Buddhist order. It was established in 1972 by Nichidatsu Fujii, who also the founder of Nipponzan Myohoji order. The temple is open through the day. But if you reach on time you can join the prayer early morning at 4.30 in the morning & 4.30 in the afternoon.
Just a few meters away from Japanese Temple there is a Peace Pagoda. These two are among the most important tourist attraction in Darjeeling. The foundation stone of the pagoda was laid in 1972 but was inaugurated in 1992. It is a white coloured Buddhist stupa with four Statue of Lord Buddha replicating four different forms or avatars. One can walk around the stupa to see tales of Lord Buddha’s life craved on the wall of pagoda. The white colour indicates the equality, non-violence & world peace.

Kecheopalri Lake
Situated in the north-west of Pelling, Kecheopalri Lake is a sacred pilgrimage site in Pelling sightseeing for both Hindus and Buddhists. Believed to be a wish-fulfilling lake, this place is heaven for nature lovers and travellers. Many interesting legends revolve around the origin and history of the lake. The shape of the lake looks like a footprint if viewed from the top. Hindus consider this as the footprint of god Shiva while Buddhists believe it to be the footprint of goddess Tara. Another interesting fact about this lake is that in spite of being situated amidst so mush of greenery, no fallen leaves can be seen floating on its surface. It is said that the birds keep the lake clean all the time. Emerging as a popular tourist attraction in Sikkim, Kecheopalri Lake is visited by pilgrims from all around the world.
Kanchendzonga Waterfalls
24 km from the beautiful township of Sikkim, Kanchendzonga waterfall is one of the major tourist hotspot in west Sikkim. It is a perennial waterfall and remains active throughout the whole year. Noted for its fascinating view of surrounding hills and countryside, this stunning waterfall is doubtlessly one of the most magnificent waterfalls in the entire Sikkim. Here, one can also find many small food-stalls selling snacks and tea, which make this place an ideal picnic spot to spend some quality time with near and dear ones.
Pemayangtse Monastery
Pemayangtse monastery is a popular Buddhist monastery, situated at a distance of 2 km from Pelling. Built in 1705 by Lama Lhatsum Chempo, it is one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim. The word Pemayangtse means ‘sublime lotus’ and it is considered to represent one of the four plexus of human body. With its beautiful collection of Buddhist idols, scriptures, sculptures, carvings and paintings, this three storied building is a heavenly place surrounded by magnificent Himalayan ranges of snow-capped mountains. Outside the monastery, there is also a very beautiful picturesque garden well maintained by the monks. Undoubtedly this monastery is one of the must see places when one is in Pelling.
Rimbi Waterfall
Rimbi waterfall is another one of the most visited tourist spots in Pelling. It is located at a distance of about 12 km from Darap village (another tourist attraction in Sikkim) and around 5 km from the city. This waterfall is perfect destination for photography lovers as it is surrounded by lavish greenery and lets you go closer to Mother Nature. Known for the activities like swimming and fishing, Rimbi waterfall lets visitors refresh their tired souls with a serene and calm ambience.
Singshore Bridge
Located at a distance of 5 km from Pelling, the grand Singshore Bridge is an extremely popular tourist spot in West Sikkim. It was constructed nearly 16 years ago by connecting two hills. Singshore bridge is also the highest bridge in Sikkim and second highest gorge bridge in Asia. Surrounded by immense green hillsides and offering enchanting views of beautiful waterfalls, the atmosphere of the bridge is completely a treat to the eyes.
Sangay Falls
10 km away from Pelling, Sangay Falls is a small beautiful waterfall in West Sikkim located near Singshore Bridge. The excellent view of the clear mountain water flowing down through rock cliffs is absolutely spectacular. Spending few minutes by its side can leave a long-lasting mark on one’s memory.
