Itinerary – Lachung Yumthang tour 2 nights 3 days

Day 01 : Gangtok to Lachung (124 km./ 5 hrs / Alt-8600ft.)

Welcome to Lachung Yumthang Tour. In the morning drive to Lachung. Enroute you will visit Kabi Lungchok, Namok, Mangan, Singhik view point, Seven Sisters Water Falls, Naga Water Falls, Chungthang & numerous other water false & mountain streams.

Day 02 : Excursion to Yumthang (24 km./ Alt.- 11,800ft.)

Full day excursion to Yumthang Valley.  The valley is covered with snow during January to March & with rhododendrons during April & May. Enroute visit Sulphur Hot Spring having medicinal values. Lunch at hotel in Lachung. After lunch visit Handicraft Centre & Lachung Monastery.

Day 03: Lachung to Gangtok (5hrs)

After breakfast drive to Gangtok. En-route enjoy the natural beauty of North Sikkim. Lachung Yumthang Tour ends.

Required Documents

  • North Sikkim – 2 copies passport size recent colour photographs & Photo ID proof (Passport/ Voter ID) for each & every guests. Minor may carry school/college ID along with photographs.
  • Foreigners need a Restricted Area Permit (RAP) to enter Sikkim. They can obtain the same from Sikkim Tourist Office at Rongpo, Bagdogra & Siliguri during office hours. All the guests must carry 2 copies passport size recent colour photographs & Passport.
  • Foreigners need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit North Sikkim. They can can obtain the same in Gangtok. All the guests must carry 2 copies passport size recent colour photographs, Passport & copy of Restricted Area Permit (RAP).

  • Rates are not valid for festive seasons, summer vacation (May & June) & long weekends.
  • Transportation will be provided as per itinerary only (not at disposal). Any additional transport service will be on extra cost.
  • In case of AC car, AC will not be run on the hills. AC will be available in plains only.
  • Navigator India will not be responsible for any incident beyond human control, such as natural calamity, political disturbance, loss or theft of baggage etc.
  • Rates applicable for Indian Nationals only. Non Indian Nationals may avail the same package after inquiring about the applicable rate.

Yumthang Valley

Yumthang Valley in North Sikkim is popularly known as the valley of flowers of Sikkim. It is on the most picturesque places to visit in Sikkim. At an altitude of 11,800 ft (3,600 meters), nature has gifted the valley undulating meadows, mountain streams, hot spring & numerous varieties of flowers.  Yumthang Valley is approx 140 km from Gangtok, the Sikkim capital. Best time to visit | Temperature Weather/ Climate 

Winter (mid December to February)

These are the coolest months. The temperature may fall as low as -20oC. During winter there will be heavy snowfall as the in January & February temperature ranges from -15oC to -5oC. This is a the best tome time to visit Yumthang valley for those want to experience extreme cold & heavy snowfall. But Snowfall will increase the risk of road blocks.

Spring (March to April)

This is the flowering season in Sikkim. North Sikkim is the place where you can see various types of orchids, rhododendrons & numerous other colourful flowers. The entire valley will be covered with flowers. It is also known as flower valley of Sikkim. So March to April will be the best time to visit Yumthang Valley for those who are fond of colourful flowers.  Temperature in March & April ranges from -10oC to 5oC. So you have a chance to get good volume of snowfall along with the colourful flowers.

Summer (May to Jun)

Summer is not at all hot in Yumthang Valley. In May temperature ranges from 0oC to 8oC. May is the time for various flowers. But this is the season when it’s start raining in the region.

Monsoon (July to mid September)

Sikkim gets maximum rainfall from July to mid September. Temperature ranges from 5oC to 15oC. North Sikkim is a landslide prone area. Heavy rain increases the risk of landslide. So it’s better not to plan your Yumthang Valley trip during monsoon.

Autumn (October to December)

October to December is a best time to visit Yumthang Valley. Just after the monsoon you will get a clear sky along with a moderate temperature. November is the month when the temperature starts falling & the valley gets occasional snow fall. Temperature in November ranges from -5oC to 6oC. You can view a partially frozen lake. As the temperature is bearable with clear weather November is considered the best time to visit the valley. December will be a colder. The minimum temperature in December may fall up to -12oC.

 

How to reach Yumthang Valley from Gangtok

Tour to Yumthang Valley starts from Gangtok. Gangtok to Yumthang Valley is 130 km (9-10 hrs). You cannot reach the valley in a single day. The nearest accommodation available is in Lachung, 105 km (6 hrs) from Gangtok. You need to start early in the morning (at 7 or 8 am) from Lachung. Lachung to Yumthang Valley is 27 km, approx 1.30 hours journey.
