Siddheshwar Dham (Chardham)

Chardham is around 5 km away on southwest of Namchi atop the Solophok hill, Siddheshwar Dham complex consists of replicas of well-known for Hindu pilgrimages known as Chardham. The attractions include replica of Badrinath, Rameshwaram, Dwarka and Jagannath Temple (Puri). It is well known for having giant 87 ft long statue of Lord Shiva, replicas of 12 Jyotirlingas and sculpture of Lord Kirateshwar. You can have beautiful views and photo opportunities.

The temple was built to promote Sikkim as a beautiful and all-embracing state in India and around the world by the government of Sikkim. The ground of the temple looks a lot like a theme park spread over 28,958 hectares of landscapes. Samdruptse Monastery

The Samdruptse Monastery is the best example of modern architecture and planning as the most well-known monasteries of Sikkim. The monastery is only 6 km from Namchi. The foundation stone was laid by Dalai Lama on October 22, 1997, and this masterpiece had been designed by over 1000 workers, various engineers, skilled architects, and sculptors. The monastery was built in 3 years. There is a giant statue of Guru Padma Sambhava on the top of the monastery. 

Shri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple

The spectacular Shri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple is located at Assanthang, Namchi. The temple is only a few kilometers from the district headquarters of Namchi Market and Namchi. This beautiful 2-storied temple building is painted in golden that really highlights in wide daylight. It is truly one of the best places to visit in Namchi with an airy first floor that can serve a lot of devotees.

Tarey Bhir

Located around 16 km from Namchi, Tarey Bhir is located on a high cliff at Sadam village in South Sikkim near Namchi. It is one of the best Namchi tourist places. There is a 3 km long trek made of stones with footsteps to climb the ridge. It is around 10,000 ft. high ridge with the gorge of up to 3500 ft. This place is best for adrenaline junkies as you can see Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Teesta Rivers at once.


How to Reach Namchi

By Air: The only airport in Sikkim is Pakyong (74 km). Pakyong is directly connected with Kolkata & Guwahati. Another operational airport is Bagdogra (IXB) located in West Bengal. Bagdogra to Ravangla is 105km, Pelling 145km & Namchi is approx 110km. Bagdogra is directly connected with Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai. Guwahati & Bangkok & it is indirect connection all major cities in India.

By Rail: Due to the geographic nature Sikkim does not have any railway connectivity. The nearest railway station is New Jalpauguri (NJP) located in neighboring state West Bengal. NJP is well connected with all major cities in India. NJP to Ravangla is 125km Gangtok is 120km, Pelling 135km & Namchi is 98km.   

By Road : Sikkim is connected with Siliguri/Bagdogra/NJP through national National Highway 31A. It connects West & South district through Melli & Gangtok (East) through Rongpo. Sikkim National Transport (SNT) operates regular busses from Siliguri to various destinations in Sikkim. Private buses are also available from Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus.

Namchi weather / Climate| Best time to visit  

You can plan your travel to Namchi at any time of the year. Every season will offer you a different flavor. Sikkim Weather in varies from sub-tropical in the south to tundra in the north. It mainly has five seasons.

Spring (March to April): it is considered a very good season with moderate temperature. This is the time for rhododendrons, orchids, various flowers & snow fall in Tsomgo Lake, Nathula Pass & sometimes in the city of Gangtok  Ravangla & Pelling.

Summer (May to Jun): as summer is not very hot in Namchi. It draws the maximum no of tourist. The city experiences a temperature clime & it ranges from 15oC  to 24oC .

Monsoon (Jul to Mid Sep):  this is the time when the state gets maximum rainfall. This is not considered to be a good season to visit the city. Heavy rain increases the risk of landslide during monsoon. But still it is an ideal place to enjoy Indian monsoon with lush green valleys, hills along with beautiful clouds & fog.    

Autumn (Mid Sep to Nov):  Just after monsoon this is probably the best time to travel with clear sky & moderate temperature. Temperature ranges from 11oC to 20oC. It is also a good time for photography.

Winter (Dec to Feb):   These are the coolest months (temperature from 7oC to 17oC) & some part of state receives a good volume of snowfall. One can have snow in North district & part of East district including Tsomgo Lake & Nathula Pass. Occasionally Gangtok & Ravangla also gets some snow fall. This is considered to be the best time to see snow fall in Ravangla & other parts of the state.
