Maenam Hill
Located inside the Maenam Wildlife sanctuary in Ravangla, Maenam Hill is the best travel destination for trek lovers. The enchanting views of the green carpeted hills around with mighty Mt. Kanchenjunga behind, this place mesmerize everyone from a child to an adult. The hill stands amidst the two major rivers of Sikkim, namely, Teesta and Rangeet. Situated at a distance of around 12 kilometers from Ravangla town, Maenam hill with its serene and meditative surroundings is a trekker’s bliss for its adventurous winding way. This place is also home to many rare species of Himalayan birds and animals that attracts tourists from far across.
Ralang Monastery
Ralong monastery is the biggest monastery in Sikkim. This monastery is one of the monumental works of Tibetan architecture. The huge collection of paintings and thangkas reflect the richness of Buddhist traditional art. Built in 1768 AD, this old monastery portrays the true spiritual side of Sikkimese people. Ralong monastery follows the Kagyupa sect of Buddhism. Situatwed at a distance of around 13 kilometers from Ravangla, This old monastery is a must visit tourist spot for every traveler.
Ralong Hot Springs
Ralong hot springs, also known as ‘Ralong cha-chu’ among locals, is an ideal place for the nature lovers. Situated near to one of the holy caves in Sikkim, these hot springs are believed to carry religious importance. The sulphur water of these springs possesses therapeutic power that can heal skin ailments. This place is also considered heaven for bird watchers as they can find regional birds and colored butterflies in abundance arriving here. Situated far away from the noisy city and composed with breathtaking surroundings, Ralong hot springs is a place that has become a prominent choice for holidaymakers.
Buddha Park
Being one of the most well maintained parks in South Sikkim, Buddha Park is a major tourist attraction in Ravangla. Constructed in the year 2006, the park is a government venture to boost pilgrimage tourism. A 130 ft. high statue of the lord Buddha was installed here to commemorate the event of 2550th birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha. The park is also known as Tathagata Tsal among the locals. Being home to a Buddhist circuit, this park also has a great spiritual significance.
Temi Tea Garde
Established in the year 1969, by Sikkim Government, Temi Tea Garden is one of the best tea gardens in India. It is also the only tea garden in the state of Sikkim. Known for producing top quality tea, this tea garden gets high recognition even in the international market. Surrounded with cherry blossom trees and lush ferns, the view of the garden is completely a treat to the eyes. There is also an old British bungalow situated just below the garden, offering accommodation to the tourists visiting the tea garden.
How to Reach
By Air: The only airport in Sikkim is Pakyong (74 km). Pakyong is directly connected with Kolkata & Guwahati. Another operational airport is Bagdogra (IXB) located in West Bengal. Bagdogra to Ravangla is 125km, Pelling 145km & Namchi is approx 110km. Bagdogra is directly connected with Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai. Guwahati & Bangkok & it is indirect connection all major cities in India.
By Rail: Due to the geographic nature Sikkim does not have any railway connectivity. The nearest railway station is New Jalpauguri (NJP) located in neighboring state West Bengal. NJP is well connected with all major cities in India. NJP to Ravangla is 125km Gangtok is 120km, Pelling 135km & Namchi is 98km.
By Road : Sikkim is connected with Siliguri/Bagdogra/NJP through national National Highway 31A. It connects West & South district through Melli & Gangtok (East) through Rongpo. Sikkim National Transport (SNT) operates regular busses from Siliguri to various destinations in Sikkim. Private buses are also available from Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus.

You can plan your travel to Ravangla at any time of the year. Every season will offer you a different flavor. Sikkim Weather in varies from sub-tropical in the south to tundra in the north. It mainly has five seasons.
Spring (March to April): it is considered a very good season with moderate temperature. This is the time for rhododendrons, orchids, various flowers & snow fall in Tsomgo Lake, Nathula Pass & sometimes in the city of Gangtok Ravangla & Pelling.
Summer (May to Jun): as summer is not very hot in Gangtok. It draws the maximum no of tourist. The city experiences a temperature clime & it ranges from 12oC (55oF) to 20oC (69oF).
Monsoon (Jul to Mid Sep): this is the time when the state gets maximum rainfall. This is not considered to be a good season to visit the city. Heavy rain increases the risk of landslide during monsoon. But still it is an ideal place to enjoy Indian monsoon with lush green valleys, hills along with beautiful clouds & fog.
Autumn (Mid Sep to Nov): Just after monsoon this is probably the best time to travel with clear sky & moderate temperature. Temperature ranges from 8oC to 20oC. It is also a good time for photography.
Winter (Dec to Feb): These are the coolest months (temperature from 3oC to 14OC) & some part of state receives a good volume of snowfall. One can have snow in North district & part of East district including Tsomgo Lake & Nathula Pass. Occasionally Gangtok & Ravangla also gets some snow fall. This is considered to be the best time to see snow fall in Ravangla & other parts of the state.
